Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire" and a brief history of Sprechstimme

I revised and edited a short presentation I created on Schoenberg’s melodrama, “Pierrot Lunaire,” and the history of Sprechstimme in music. The text is based on surrealist poetry written by Albert Giraud.

I have always wanted to perform this incredible melodrama by Arnold Schoenberg and hope that some day that will become a reality!

For those who find the melodrama tradition, Sprechstimme, and surrealism fascinating, or aren't familiar at all, I have revised a short presentation I have been working on that briefly covers the history of the Sprechstimme and melodrama tradition. I have included score excerpts and various recordings including the premier conducted by Arnold Schoenberg himself!

The nerd in me has been creating things like this to keep myself moving forward during a year that feels a bit directionless at times. Enjoy .
